APLNB RECOGNITION AWARDL'Association des bibliothécaires professionnel(le)s du Nouveau-Brunswick / The Association of Professional Librarians of New Brunswick has established this award to recognize significant outside contributions to New Brunswick libraries. 2002
Recognition Award There was no award in 2004 2006 Recognition Award (under construction) There was no award in 2007 Eligibility The annual Award will be presented to an individual or organization deserving of recognition for efforts in advancing the state of, or in making an outstanding contribution to, a library or libraries in New Brunswick. Persons currently employed in New Brunswick libraries will not be considered. Persons retired from library positions may be considered only for contributions made since their retirement. Possible recipients may include school administrators, library trustees, administrative officials, and patrons. AwardThe Award recipient shall be announced and the Award presented at APLNB's autumn conference. The Award shall be primarily an honourary one. A plaque will be presented to the recipient, along with available APLNB / ABPNB knickknacks (eg. t-shirts, mugs, pens, bookmarks, etc.). In addition the Award recipient shall choose a New Brunswick library to which a monetary gift shall be granted. The amount shall be $200, or more if in the previous spring each year, the Executive upon the recommendation of the Treasurer decides that a larger amount can be budgeted. NominationsNominations will be considered by a three-person Committee: the Past President or other member of the Executive (the Chair), and the two Members-at-large of the Board of Directors. Nominations will be considered from the school, public, academic or special library sectors. The Committee shall select from among the nominations a single recipient, or none if it considers no one is deserving for that year. There will be a call for nominations each March; all nominations should be received by 1 September. Nominations should be in the form of a letter stating in detail the nominee's library activities and the reasons for the nomination, and should be accompanied by the nominee's curriculum vitae.
