2010 Annual General Meeting and ConferenceWorking Well, Spreading the Word, Feeling Good
SpeakersMelanie Browne Innovation is a key growth driver for Maple Leaf Foods. As the Canadian packaged goods market place has matured the company must adapt to compete. The ThinkFOOD! INFORMATION CAFÉ is an initiative to address the gaps as identified by "The Food Centre of Excellence Feasibility Study" (August 2006). This library supports knowledge sharing and cross-business unit collaboration; central repository for global Maple Leaf Foods food and culinary knowledge; and ensures that ideas are catalogued to avoid reinventing the same product by saving time and reducing costs. The ThinkFOOD! INFORMATION CAFÉ is located in ThinkFOOD! Centre in Meadowvale, Ontario, Canada. It was built and opened in April 2009. An automated library software system was launched to better sort, store, search and analyze digital information related to various categories of the food industry and Maple Leaf Foods. The library now collects and catalogues global culinary product and/or packaging ideas and trends. It will store all recipe/product profiles for future referral and customer support and centralize market research, purchases and information of the various departments in Maple Leaf Foods. This system will efficiently and effectively manage the company's knowledge assets and will help with our efforts to gain competitive advantage. This session will describe the creation of the Information Café, and the implementation of its online ECM. We will provide the infrastructure for long-term management of information and knowledge in the library's collection through provision of hardware and software systems supporting integrated collection management in both a physical and digital environment. We will also discuss the marketing strategy created to enforce effective change management and the sustainability and expansion of this project. Maurice Lavigne Maurice Lavigne will introduce use to useful subjects for professionals within their working lives, like conflict resolution, the elements of healthy living and the importance of letting go to make room for change. He will also demonstrate stretching exercises done sitting at your desk, as well as proper posture and breathing techniques to help release tension. With the accelerated pace of office life, it's essential to maintain your energy level and efficiency.
